Arson is justified, however there is also a small amount of evidence that you should distrust Delilah. Now at this point in the story, you’re led to believe that these people have been spying on you and are up to no good. There’s a part pretty far in where, spoiler alert, you have the choice to burn down a suspicious looking research area. I sometimes felt like my choices didn’t have an impact on what happened. I still wanted Henry to have a way to keep the sun out of his eyes. There are two hats and I would always put one on at the beginning of the day, even though you can’t see them and it makes no difference gameplay wise. It’s too bad you can’t collect them like you could with the hats. You can’t open them, but you can read the backs and some of them are real gems. I also love the books you can find all over the map. I mean, you could just do screenshots, but it’s not the same. It’s great how you can export your photos so you can save them. My favorite shot is of a little waterfall over to the west. I’ve heard of people using the camera for forensic photos to document suspicious goings on, but I used mine exclusively for awesome nature pictures. I had a lot of fun with the disposable camera.
Most dialogue options are on a timer so it maintains a normal conversational style, but you can just let the timer go and she sometimes responds differently. It makes me wonder how the game would be different if you just ignored her, because you can do that. It’s only natural that you make a connection with her, and it’s poignantly cruel how the writers play off that trust. After the teens leave, Delilah is the only person you talk to. There’s a carefully crafted sense of loneliness that just gets more severe as the game goes on. Soon they will have enough to lobby congress to make their land a national park.
